Both OpenMRS and DHIS are often installed in sites where internet connectivity is poor or non-existing. Reporting aggregated data from these sites to up level is still a big challenge. The project aims to apply a low-cost file sharing between sites where OpenMRS and/or DHIS are installed. The idea is to allow electronic report of aggregated data from remote facilities to up level (district level) and the reception of feedback or analyzed data from up level. To address this critical issue, we submitted a project proposal to Google Summer of Code + OpenMRS Internship Program and the proposal was accepted. The idea is to use Entuura system (
http://wiki.entuura.org/site/index.php?title=Main_Page ) platform to enable at very low cost, the report of aggregated data for OpenMRS/DHIS .
The project was supposed to start in january 2008 but unfortunately and diverse reasons, it will start in july.
I will keep you updated on the evolution of the project.
